I am completely disgusted & shocked that a doctors surgery should be able to carry on the way this practice has. After continely being unable to get an appointment to then be prescribe the wrong medication for a repeat prescription, for a 100 year old lady, to then send it to the wrong chemist for delivery, to phone up the surgery to find out what's going on & why my nan has been prescribed tablets instead of oral suspension, when her medical records should already note 'trouble taking tablets' & could she have a prescription for oral suspension as requested per the repeated prescription request, to then be told by a receptionist, I am unable to speak to the doctor, phone back Monday morning (phone call made on a Friday) for a phone consultation & her answer to 'having trouble taking tablets' was 'just crush'em up'.......REALLY?????...... & as for a previous comment about appointment times & about the surgery being popular, I think it's more of a case that the practice has a wide area to cater for & needs a different approach & handling of scheduling appointments. I used to be a patient at an independent surgery (1 Dr in whole practise). & I could phone anytime of open hours & be given an appointment same day, next day at very latest & was more than their fare share of patients on their books. All the receptionist were always polite, helpful & patient confidentiality was 100%. ...... And as for date of last appointment- I couldn't tell ya, cos I can never get in. So put Friday when spoke to receptionist........
Receptionists can be both curt and rude but docs & nurses really good if you're lucky enough to get past reception.
Somtimes difficult to get through on the phone but when you do the staff are helpful. Also they deal with some very difficult people very well.
I personal thought would be is that since Dr Ryder left as owner of the Surgery things have just got worse they now play with your tablets on repeats.but never tell you they take tablets off the repeats but never contact you to tell you.. its not as good there as it used to be... needs lots of work to turn this surgery around.
I am sorry that you are not happy with our service. Our GPs are doing lots of medication reviews to make sure that our patients get the tablets they need, that they are safe, tablets are being taken correctly and that we are following guidelines to make sure we prescribe efficiently and effectively. We do usually try to let patients know if we change their medication but sometimes this does not happen. If you have a medication query you can speak to our prescription clerk between 9.00am and 12.00pm, or make a telelephone appointment with your GP.
I have been a patient here for over 25 years and always received excellent care - whether it be chest infections and a mental breakdown in the past or cancer more recently.
Yes - there are problems getting through for an "on the day" appointment and a two week delay for an advance appointment - but this surely shows how popular the practise is ? Perhaps it needs more staff (doctors, nurses and admin) but that of course requires more funding !
